Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Indian Railways has accelerated railway development by strengthening inter regional connectivity and enhancing passenger experience through the introduction of next generation trains.
The Amrit Bharat Express is a modern LHB rake train equipped with advanced push–pull technology, ensuring improved speed, smoother operations, and enhanced operational efficiency.
Designed with passenger comfort and safety at the forefront, the train is provided with ergonomically designed berths, modern modular toilets, LED lighting, CCTV surveillance, and mobile charging facilities. These features together offer a safe, comfortable, and reliable travel experience at affordable fares, particularly benefiting lower and middle income groups.
Hon’ble Prime Minister today flagged off the inaugural runs of three Amrit Bharat Express trains, namely:
• Alipurduar Junction–SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express, departing Alipurduar Junction on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs and arriving at SMVT Bengaluru at 16:50 hrs on 19th January 2026;
• New Jalpaigudi–Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express, departing from Rangapani on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs and arriving at Nagercoil at 19:15 hrs on 19th January 2026; and
• New Jalpaigudi–Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express, departing from New Jalpaigudi on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs and arriving at Tiruchchirappalli at 14:15 hrs on 19th January 2026.
In addition, Prime Minister also flagged off two new train services equipped with LHB coaches:
• Radhikapur–SMVT Bengaluru Express, departing Radhikapur on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs and arriving at SMVT Bengaluru at 15:05 hrs on 19th January 2026; and
• Balurghat–SMVT Bengaluru Express, departing Balurghat on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs and arriving at SMVT Bengaluru at 09:40 hrs on 19th January 2026.
All these services will pass through Odisha under the jurisdiction of East Coast Railway. The regular operation schedules of these trains will be notified separately.
Notably, Odisha continues to get benefit with two Amrit Bharat Express services already operating in the state, including the Brahmapur–Udhna Amrit Bharat Express.
Flagging off of these trains once again underscores the Government of India’s unwavering focus on modern rail infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and national integration, with Indian Railways continuing to serve as the lifeline of the nation.
