Union Railway Minister ShriAshwini Vaishnaw travelled on the Kolkata Metro and interacted with passengers and railway staff.

During the visit, he announced that around 60 new-generation Metro trains will be inducted into the Kolkata Metro network over the next 4–5 years. He said the new trains will modernise Metro services and further strengthen urban mobility in the city.
He said that ongoing Metro expansion projects will significantly improve connectivity and commuter convenience across Kolkata.
