Bhubaneswar, 29 January 2026:
Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, participated in a high level review meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, to assess the progress of major railway infrastructure and developmental projects in the State.
The meeting was attended by the General Managers of East Coast Railway, South Central Railway and South Coast Railway, along with senior officials from Indian Railways and the Government of Andhra Pradesh including officers from the Revenue and Forest Departments of the State Government. Discussions focused on strengthening rail infrastructure, enhancing line capacity and improving connectivity to support economic growth, passenger convenience and freight movement.
Several important projects pertaining to East Coast Railway were reviewed during the meeting. These included the doubling of the Kottavalasa–Koraput railway line, the fourth line between Kottavalasa and Vizianagaram, and the third and fourth line between Vizianagaram and Naupada along the busy Howrah–Chennai main line were also reviewed. Progress of the Vizianagaram–Titlagarh third line project, a vital capacity enhancement link between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, was also discussed.
In addition, the major upgradation of Visakhapatnam Railway Station, being undertaken to provide world class passenger amenities and modern station infrastructure, formed an important part of the deliberations.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasized the importance of close coordination between the State Government and Indian Railways for timely completion of the projects and advised the concerned departments, including Revenue and Forest, to expedite the process of providing necessary statutory clearances. He also assured full support of the State Government in matters relating to land acquisition, clearances and inter-departmental coordination.
