Indian Railways unveils Nursing Room at Mysuru Station for Mothers and Children
● Under Project Ayushman, South Western Railway rolls out a first-of-its-kind nursing room facility at Platform 2 — bringing dignity, comfort, and privacy to traveling mothers
● In a heartening move that blends comfort with compassion, Indian Railways has unveiled a dedicated nursing room at Platform 2 of the historic Mysuru Railway Station — offering a quiet, hygienic, and secure space for nursing mothers and infants.
● This passenger-friendly facility has been launched under the “Project Ayushman”, in collaboration with Ladies Circle India, as part of Indian Railways’ ongoing mission to make travel more inclusive, thoughtful, and humane.
● Traveling with infants — especially during long layovers, late-night connections, or festival rush — can be exhausting for mothers. Until now, many were left without private spaces for nursing or baby care.
● This newly inaugurated nursing room:
○ Offers privacy and dignity for mothers
○ Is air-conditioned and well-lit
○ Maintains high cleanliness standards
○ Provides a safe space away from crowded platforms
● By combining comfort with care, the Indian Railways is raising the bar for what passengers can expect from modern-day rail travel.
