\uf0d8 Projects to provide major boost to train handling capacity, industrial logistics and regional connectivity in Odisha<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bhubaneswar, June 20, 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a significant milestone towards strengthening Railway infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency two important multi-tracking railway projects worth over Rs.732 crore was dedicated to the Nation during a function at Rairangpur today where Hon\u2019ble President of India and Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister of India graced the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two capacity enhancement projects developed under East Coast Railway will significantly increase line capacity, reduce congestion and facilitate smoother movement of passenger as well as freight trains. These projects will further strengthen the railway network of Odisha and support the State\u2019s growing industrial and economic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jakhapura \u2013 Jajpur Keonjhar Road \u2013 Baitarani Road Multi-tracking Project, completed at a cost of Rs.323 crore over a length of 19 KM, has been developed as a part of the larger Bhadrak \u2013 Nergundi Multi-tracking Project. The project will enhance capacity on the heavily loaded Howrah\u2013Chennai main line, reduce congestion, improve punctuality and ensure faster movement of passenger and freight trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project will also facilitate seamless transportation of coal and other bulk commodities, providing stronger logistical support to nearby ports, industries and commercial centres, thereby contributing to the economic development of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, the Hindol Road \u2013 Meramandali Multi-tracking Project, completed at a cost of Rs.409 crore over a length of 27 KM, forms part of the important Budhapank \u2013 Salegaon Multi-tracking Project. The project will significantly increase train handling capacity, remove operational bottlenecks and support smooth movement of coal, steel, power-sector inputs and other industrial commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The additional capacity created through these projects will enable operation of more passenger and freight trains, improve connectivity, strengthen industrial logistics and contribute significantly to the overall growth and development of Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These projects reflect the Government of India\u2019s continued commitment towards developing modern, efficient and future-ready railway infrastructure.
