Loco Pilots, Guards and Firemen to Receive Enhanced Allowances under Revised Kilometrage Allowance and Allowance in Lieu of Kilometrage (ALK), Recognising the Backbone of India\u2019s Rail NetworkIndian Railways has made a comprehensive upward revision in the rates of Kilometrage Allowance and Allowance in lieu of Kilometrage (ALK) for all running staff across the Indian Railways system, with effect from 01 January 2024, following the increase in Dearness Allowance to 50%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These enhanced rates will benefit thousands of dedicated Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots, Firemen, Guards, and other running staff who keep the wheels of India\u2019s vast rail network turning round the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the revised structure, Loco Running Staff will receive updated kilometrage allowance per 100 km and ALK per 160 km as follows: Loco Pilot (Mail) \u20b9606 and \u20b9969; Loco Pilot (Passenger)\/Sr. Motorman \u20b9600 and \u20b9960; Loco Pilot (Goods) \u20b9594 and \u20b9951; Loco Pilot (Shunting) Gr. I \u20b9461 and \u20b9737; Loco Pilot (Shunting) Gr. II \u20b9447 and \u20b9715; Sr. FM-1, Sr. Assistant Loco Pilot \u20b9447 (\u20b9287 for shunting) and \u20b9715; FM-1, Assistant Loco Pilot \u20b9430 (\u20b9277 for shunting) and \u20b9688; Sr. Second Fireman \u20b9430 (\u20b9277 for shunting) and \u20b9688; and Second Fireman \u20b9362 (\u20b9216 for shunting) and \u20b9579.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, Traffic Running Staff will receive revised rates as follows: Mail\/Express Guard \u20b9549 and \u20b9878; Sr. Passenger Guard \u20b9543 and \u20b9869; Sr. Goods Guard \u20b9543 and \u20b9869; Goods Guard \u20b9537 and \u20b9859; Sr. Assistant Guard\/Sr. Brakesman \u20b9320 and \u20b9512; and Assistant Guard\/Brakesman \u20b9305 and \u20b9488. (The post of Guard has been re-designated as Train Manager.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The revised rates are applicable under the Railway Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016, and all other terms and conditions for admissibility of Kilometrage Allowance and ALK remain unchanged. The revision will benefit running staff across Indian Railways by ensuring better compensation aligned with the current Dearness Allowance levels.
