East Coast Railway has intensified efforts to promote ticketing discipline and discourage unauthorised travel through special Fortress Ticket Checking Drives at prominent railway stations across its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to encourage passengers to purchase valid tickets, ensure compliance with railway rules and protect railway revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The drives involve coordinated efforts by railway commercial personnel to verify tickets, detect irregularities and discourage travel without valid tickets. Regular and focused checking reinforces the importance of purchasing tickets before boarding trains and promotes responsible travel practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to checking, an increase in Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) booking activity has been recorded at prominent stations, including Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur. Notably, a 29% increase in UTS bookings was recorded on the day of the Fortress Ticket Checking Drive, indicating a positive trend in ticket purchasing activity during the checking operation.
The Commercial Department of ECoR has been playing a key role in implementing the initiative through coordinated ticket checking operations across prominent stations in the zone. The active involvement of the Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) team, along with headquarters and divisional commercial personnel, has strengthened monitoring and helped ensure effective enforcement of ticketing rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Encouraging Passengers to Buy Valid Tickets
The Fortress Ticket Checking Drive goes beyond detecting ticketing irregularities and collecting penalties. Its broader objective is to encourage passengers to make ticket purchase an essential part of every journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regular checks help discourage unauthorised travel and reinforce compliance with railway rules. They also promote fairness for passengers travelling with valid tickets and help protect legitimate railway earnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
