Developed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), the network is designed to provide high-capacity, efficient and reliable rail connectivity between some of the country\u2019s major industrial, manufacturing and logistics centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"853\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-09-06-at-21.34.12-853x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11877\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-09-06-at-21.34.12-853x1024.jpeg 853w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-09-06-at-21.34.12-250x300.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-09-06-at-21.34.12-768x922.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-09-06-at-21.34.12.jpeg 894w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 853px) 100vw, 853px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The DFC network comprises the 1,337-km Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), connecting New Sahnewal in Punjab with New Sonnagar in Bihar, and the 1,506-km Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), connecting New Dadri in Uttar Pradesh with New JNPT in Maharashtra. Together, the two corridors form a 2,843-km high-capacity freight railway network designed to facilitate faster and more efficient movement of goods across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A landmark milestone was achieved on 31 March 2026, with the completion of the approximately 102-km Vaitarna\u2013JNPT section, bringing the entire WDFC into operation.
