{"id":11421,"date":"2026-08-20T14:35:04","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T14:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pramad.in\/?p=11421"},"modified":"2026-08-20T14:35:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T14:35:04","slug":"modular-bio-toilets-at-nsg-6-stations-an-innovative-in-house-initiative-by-cmlr-workshop-jhansi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pramad.in\/?p=11421","title":{"rendered":"Modular Bio-Toilets at NSG-6 Stations \u2013 An Innovative In-House Initiative by CMLR Workshop, Jhansi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Introduction<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As part of the Indian Railways\u2019 continuous efforts towards improving passenger amenities, sanitation and cleanliness at railway stations, CMLR Workshop, Jhansi, has undertaken an innovative initiative for installation of modular bio-toilets at NSG-6 category stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"461\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-20-at-19.04.57-2-461x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-20-at-19.04.57-2-461x1024.jpeg 461w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-20-at-19.04.57-2-135x300.jpeg 135w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-20-at-19.04.57-2-691x1536.jpeg 691w, https:\/\/pramad.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-20-at-19.04.57-2.jpeg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br>Modular bio-toilets have been installed at stations such as Matatila, Basai, Jakhora and Jiron through the efforts of CMLR Workshop\u2019s in-house staff, utilizing available\/reusable components recovered from coaches during POH repair activities.<br>This initiative demonstrates the effective utilization of usable coach components as a resource, thereby reducing expenditure, minimizing material wastage and providing improved sanitation facilities to passengers at stations where conventional toilet infrastructure are limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Innovative Reuse of Coach Components<br>Under this initiative, usable components such as:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">FRP Lavatory Modules<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Bio-Tanks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Water Tanks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Reusable coach amenities and other accessories have been utilized for fabrication\/installation of modular bio-toilet units.<br>Instead of treating these serviceable components as scrap, they have been put to productive use after inspection, cleaning, repair\/refurbishment and necessary modifications.<br>This approach represents the principle of \u201cWaste to Wealth\u201d and optimum utilization of available railway resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">In-House Execution by CMLR Workshop<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The modular bio-toilets have been installed through in-house manpower of CMLR Workshop, making effective use of the technical skills and experience of workshop personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The work involved activities such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Inspection of FRP lavatory modules, bio-tanks and water tanks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Cleaning, repair and refurbishment of components wherever required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Fabrication of supporting structures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Assembling of the modular toilet unit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Installation of water tanks and other sanitary arrangements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Provision of necessary plumbing and drainage connections.<br>The initiative has therefore been executed with minimum dependence on new materials, resulting in economical and sustainable creation of passenger amenities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Passenger Utility at NSG-6 Stations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Stations such as Matatila, Basai, Jakhora and Jiron serve passengers from nearby villages and surrounding areas.
